Meet Mrs. LaMontia

I am very excited to be here at Gifford Park where we are going to Rock, Roll, Bloom Grow TOGETHER!.  My name is Kristen LaMontia.  I was born and raised in Maryland.  I moved to Omaha my freshman year of college where I graduated from U.N.O. with a Bachelors in Elementary Education with a reading focus.  I have also completed my Masters at U.N.O. and I  am endorsed in English as a Second Language (Concordia University) as well as Early Childhood Education (Creighton University).  I am a life long learner and hope to get my Doctorate one day.  I have been teaching in O.P.S. for 20 years (1st and 2nd grade, technology). I have also been an Instructional Facilitator.  My love and passion are truly in the classroom and I look forward to a great year with you and your child.

I am married to my husband John and we have 3 children, Joey (!5), Vinny (13), and Cecelia.  All three children attend O.P.S. schools!  We also have 2 dogs Nico and Frankie.

Our classroom will be an environment where all students will feel comfortable, safe, and cared for.  I am a very positive individual and will hope to instill this same positive attitude with your child as well as other important traits such as; responsibility, respect, choices, and compassion.  All students will be encouraged to work hard and make good choices..  We will learn a  lot this year and we will maintain positive attitudes and respect one another.

Please feel free to contact me at anytime

with any questions or concerns you have.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Kristen LaMontia

Welcome

In our Kindergarten...
We share everything.
We play fair and take turns.
We are kind to each other.  Friends are important and worth keeping.
We listen to each other.  When we are working on a problem, two heads are better than one.
We put things back where they go.
We tell people how we feel about the things they do.
We exercise our bodies every day.  It helps us feel better and makes us ready to learn.
We have people read to us every day.  It opens the world to us.
We experiment with writing.  It will helps us to remember things.
We sing and dance and draw pictures.  It makes learning fun.
We look everywhere.  We talk to each other.  We notice things.
This is our classroom.  We take care of it.
